Shipping & returns
How we get goods to you nationwide freight and how returns and claims work on surplus stock.
Last updated: July 13, 2026
Delivery areas
- We ship to all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.
- Deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, and remote or limited-access locations may incur surcharges and longer transit times.
- International shipping and export are handled case-by-case; contact us before ordering.
Freight & parcel shipping
- Small parcel for individual items and light orders, via national carriers.
- LTL freight (palletized) for heavier items such as furniture, multiple monitors, or bulk lots.
- Full pallet / FTL for large office clearances and volume orders.
Goods are packed and palletized appropriately for surplus equipment. Liftgate, inside delivery, residential delivery, and appointment scheduling are available for an additional fee where offered by the carrier.
Minimum order & shipping costs
We have a minimum order value of $500 (before shipping and tax). Shipping is charged as a flat fee based on the volume and weight of your order:
| Small parcel (light / single items) | from $10 |
|---|---|
| Medium orders (multiple items) | $25–$50 |
| Palletized / LTL freight | $50–$85 |
| Bulk lots / full pallet | up to $100 |
In short, shipping ranges from $10 to $100 depending on order volume, and the exact fee is confirmed on your quote before you order. Remote destinations (e.g. Alaska, Hawaii) and optional services such as liftgate or inside delivery may add surcharges. Typical handling time is 2–5 business days after cleared payment, plus carrier transit time. Estimates are not guaranteed and exclude delays outside our control.
As-is / where-is sales
Unless a listing or quote states otherwise, surplus goods are sold “as-is, where-is” with all faults, based on the condition grade provided. This reflects the used/surplus nature of the stock and is a key part of the pricing. Please review item grades and ask questions before purchasing. Warranty disclaimers are set out in our Terms of Sale.
30-day money-back guarantee on defects
We stand behind everything we ship. If a product arrives defective or does not function as described, you can return it within 30 days of delivery for a full refund and we cover the return shipping cost on defective items.
Because our stock is pre-owned and surplus, normal signs of use are expected and are not grounds for a refund: light cosmetic wear such as minimal scratches, scuffs, or small blemishes consistent with the item’s condition grade. Larger problems do qualify significant damage, missing described components, or a functional fault that stops the item from working as described.
To start a claim, email contact@thompson-surplus.com within 30 days with your order reference and photos. We’ll send a prepaid return label and issue your refund once the item is received and inspected.
Returns
Separate from the 30-day defective-product guarantee above, ordinary (non-defective) returns work as follows, because inventory is surplus and often unique:
- For change-of-mind or no-longer-needed items, goods sold as-is are generally non-returnable, except where a right of return is required by law or expressly granted in writing.
- Where a return is authorized, it requires a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) obtained within 5 business days of delivery. Goods must be returned in the received condition and packaging.
- Authorized non-defective returns may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 20%, and outbound/return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility.
- Refunds for approved returns are issued to the original payment method after inspection.
Request an RMA at contact@thompson-surplus.com with your order reference.
Transit damage & claims
Inspect shipments on arrival. Note any visible damage or shortage on the carrier’s delivery receipt and take photos. Report damage, shortages, or non-conforming goods in writing within 5 business days of delivery, per our Terms of Sale. Keep all packaging until the claim is resolved. Approved claims are remedied by repair, replacement (subject to availability), or refund at our discretion.
